Fluffy the cat.
Ava Joanie HAD to have the "fur real" kitty. She has been watching way too much tv, and has been brainwashed by all the commercials. She recites them to me verbatim whenever we come across a product that she recognizes. But that's another story.
"Chucky"...(um, no...that's not it...oh yeah,) "Fluffy" scares me. While I was wrapping it, it kept meowing in the box and opening and shutting it's eyes. Luckily, it was quiet after I placed it under the tree. Ava is absolutely thrilled. I guess that's what it's all about.
Grammie Joan, thank you for all the wonderful presents! Ava also loves her bathrobe and watch...and wore the shirt and sweater set yesterday. Victor wore his new jeans (it's a miracle!)
I am thankful that while Fluffy can move and meow and blink "her" eyes...she doesn't make real crap.

Are you charming?
Sometimes it's challenging for a girl to look hot, mashed up against wood paneling. However, Ava Joan pulls it off. She gets dressed to the nines whenever we go out to eat...even if it's just a pizza joint. Notice the red fingernails. She will stop watching Sponge Bob, mid episode, for a quick manicure.
Victor, on the other hand, well, what's a little pizza sauce on a shirt already covered in various stains? He is doing better, post op, but his throat is still very sore. He didn't eat pizza, but was glad to get out of the house. He came home and demolished some icecream. Today, larger nostrils are getting operated on, and smaller nostril said he would help in the recovery process. Awww. Father and Son sinus surgery...kind of warms your heart.

Go girl!
Ava attended a dance and cheer camp with Kennesaw Parks and Recreation. She learned all these routines in three (1/2 day)days. She's the one in the white t-shirt.

Vic looks for Rip Van Winkle
Victor and I spent the night at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta...reason? Sleep study.
We are hoping that we may find something to help this boy finally get some shut-eye in his life.
Our tech was very nice.
After getting all wired, it was hard to go to sleep...
But finally around midnight, he fell asleep. Upon awakening at 6 AM, we were still a bit grumpy!

Finally, Ava in the news!
Ava has her first loose tooth!!!!!!!
I don't know about y'all, but I used to work that tooth until finally I plucked it out in victory! But not Ava. She's content to let Mother Nature take her course. It should be a matter of days!

Viewer Discretion Advised
Check it out. Who woulda' thought that a small "birthmark" would warrant such a huge incision? Not to mention the very hard time of it that Victor has had post-op.
This whole thing has been exhausting and exasperating. After a weekend of wound care and crying and no sleep....with Dad being out of town, we are all ready for some healing.
Yesterday at 5AM, Victor came in to my room, crying in pain, aftering being up all night....I threw the towel in, loaded up sleeping Ava and headed to the hospital. I felt like I was in over my head. The doctor's said that the incision looked good (thank God) and gave Victor some morphine IV so we could catch up on pain management. They even rolled an additional bed into the room, and we all snoozed.
Victor has missed school since last Friday, and is not supposed to go back until Thursday. Martin is due home on Wednesday. I gotta' keep it together!
After we woke up, got our scrips, we headed home. And thankfully, Victor was comfortable enough to get some more sleep.
From the looks of the house this morning, he pulled another all nighter complete with ice cream slopped all over the kitchen and stairs, milk spilled all over the carpet and empty yogurt containers thrown on the floor. I guess he's getting his dairy.
Today is a new day...and I am hopeful that it will be a better one.

Victor's First Surgery....dah dahn dahhhhhh
"I didn't get much sleep last night because I couldn't rest my head without it hurting severely."
Victor had his "bald spot aka shrapnel wound" removed yesterday. According to the dermatologist, it was a "nevus sebacious" (say that fast three times). It had started to grow some funkiness on it, and after the confirming biopsy, we decided to have it removed, as there was a small chance of it becoming cancerous later in life. Victor was very brave and charmed all the nurses and the doctor who performed the surgery. We wanted to videotape it, but they said no. Bummer.
I was pretty surprised when I came back in the room after surgery to see a 1 1/2 incision. I was thinking it would be a coupla' stitches and a band aid. Nope...eight stitches, not counting the ones inside. Victor gets to take off his head bandage this afternoon. Stay tuned for pics.

Check out yoga boy!
Is this child amazing, or what? I was wondering if he would lose his flexibility as he grew older, but shoulda' known that it was in the genes.
Victor is going to have his "birthmark"(the bald spot on the back of his head that we have called his "shrapnel" wound) excised on Thursday...turns out that it is a "nevus sebaceous". It started to grow something funky, went to the derm, had a biopsy and voila. They are going to cut around it, and then sew the edges together. We are doing this as a precautionary measure. Apparently, these things can cause trouble later in life.
So, the Vic won't have to worry about covering up his little spot anymore. I am hoping that the Dr.'s will let me video the surgery!!!!!! Stay tuned.
